The sero-prevalence of hepatitis-C virus (HCV) antibodies was
investigated among blood donors in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross
River State, Nigeria, between July and December 2003. A total of 200
blood samples were screened for HCV antibodies using double antigen (Ag
– Ab – Ag) Sandwich Immunoassay. The overall prevalence rate of HCV
antibodies was 5%. Female subjects (25%) were more infected than males
