Abstract: Five hundred (500) pregnant Nigerian women in their trimester were scanned and measurement of the femur length, bi-parietal diameter, and thoracic diameter of the fetus were taken and analyzed. The aim of this study was to test the strength of femur length, thoracic diameter, bi-parietal diameter and last menstrual period in the prediction of actual delivery date in third trimester. The results showed that femur length has 86% expected date of delivery to actual delivery date accuracy, while thoracic diameter, bi-parietal diameter and last menstrual period showed accuracy o f54%, 51% and 54% respectively. Femur length measurement is seen as the strongest and a reliable indicator of fetal age in third trimester.

Key words: Ultrasonography, Fetal age, Growth parameters, Third trimester of pregnancy.
